MMQG May Sew-In Day

Quilty activity in this corner of the room.

Once again, a successful Sew-In Day, and a wonderful time was had by all!   Ten amazing quilters, all working on their own  projects.  Some projects were very new and some not so new UFOs.  Lots was accomplished and everyone enjoyed being together, doing what we collectively love to do.

Betsy was rockin' the scraps!

Who's that peeking at you?   You will see at the end of this post

Jenn's Sochi Diamonds is all quilted up and ready for binding.

Jeanette machine quilted this sweet quilt and has the binding ready to go on.  Lots accomplished today.

Linda is putting the finishing touches on her entry to the MQG Michael Miller Challenge

Amanda's pile of gorgeous strips

Amanda's machine.  A beauty!

Anja's pretty block.  Very cool technique - sewn on a foundation

Karen's "snowball piecing" technique.  Very tiny and very interesting!

Adrienne's strippy modern quilt all finished and ready to use.  Also, the pillow that Linda made for Adrienne from scraps. You can read about Adrienne's pillow here

Karen's amazing applique quilt top.  tiny, tiny bias strips and some piecing as well.  Just gorgeous!

Linda was working on her Christmas quilt.

It's Bill Cosby!   This quilt is made by Aimee of Candy Coated Quilts for entry in the Modern Quilt Guild's Michael Miller Challenge.  Isn't it fabulous!  Can't wait to see it all quilted up!  Way to go, Aimee!

Can't wait for next month's Sew-In Day.

This past Wednesday evening was  the May meeting of the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild. and oh, what quilty fun we had!  After a very short business meeting...our new logo was voted on....more on that later...the announcement was made that our lovely little guild had been accepted to participate  in the annual Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival in beautiful downtown Amherst,, Nova Scotia. This Festival is a 5 day celebration of all things fibre: knitting, quilting, rug hooking, and so much more. Featuring many creative workshops, exhibits, and hands-on demonstrations, the festival offers something for everyone! If you’re looking for a little fibre in your creative diet, then this is the festival for you! October 14-18, 2014. More on this later too.  We were all about freemotion quilting and showing off recent projects.
