MMQG November Sew-In Recap

Our November Sew-In Day was abuzz with conversation and laughter and lots and lots of sewing.  Machines were humming all day long.  With Christmas not that far away, there were a few projects being worked on for gift giving.
Look at this beauty that Jenn worked on.  She finished up the quilting and just needs to add the binding to call it done!

Crystal made this awesome project bag.

Sarah worked on her Burly Beaver Bag and I heard that it is nearly finished!
Those arrows.....

Adrienne worked on cutting out a pattern.  She is super organized and that sure helps

Sandra worked on a gift for her son.  It's code...Morse Code, that is! Very clever!

Barb finished sewing up the top for her Weight of Love quilt.  The background is a soft green that doesn't show in the photo. Lovely!

Julie worked on making gifts for the little kiddies on her Christmas list.    I think this will be a shark!
Just a few shots to show you the happenings. We always have a great time!
Be advised that our December Sew-In has been cancelled
See you in January!

MMQG and Libs Elliott

MMQG had a fabulous day today!  Beyond fabulous!  A quilter's dream.....Sew all day with friends, no lunches to make, no laundry, no noses to wipe, no dishes to wash....you get it!  And just look at the awesome progress that was made.  A quilt in the making...We were very, very pleased to welcome Libs Elliott to Nova Scotia and to our guild to present her class on how to recreate her Weight of Love quilt.  MMQGers are a hard core qroup of modern quilters who accept a challenge to perform and today was no different. Libs lead us through the intricacies of her pattern and we all took it and ran.  There will be some amazing quilts in the future so stay tuned!

Here's a few shots of the goings-on of the day.

Again, thanks so much to Libs.

MMQG November 2016 Meeting - Recap

Our meeting last night was pretty awesome!  It is our third birthday as a modern guild.  So many good memories, so many awesome quilts and quilty things were made over the past three years.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MMQG! Here's to many more years of quilty companionship and creative inspiration!

Because our lovely Prez, Adrienne, couldn't attend,(we missed you!) our lovely Secretary, Jeanette, lead us through our meeting.  Thanks for a job well done!  And more thanks to Sandra for supervising our swap for the evening.

MMQG 2016 CHARITY PROJECT - At this meeting, we presented Kylene Mellor, representative from The IWK Health Centre, which is a hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia that provides care to women, children, and youth from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, with 21 quilts made by various members of our guild. We know these quilts will give a quilty hug to many.  Thank you to all who participated.  We are very proud of our members for their generosity.

After our presentation, we went on to our program for the evening.  Our members, Gail and Frances, former pysiotherapists, shared with us lots of valuable information regarding how we as quilters need to take care of our backs, and necks, and shoulders.  We learned that "sitting is the new smoking" and very detrimental to our health.  We need to move around and be mindful of our posture.  Thanks, Ladies!  A great learning experience.

We also had time for a fun game of LCR (left, centre, right).  A dice game and the ante is two fat quarters.  Someone goes home with a nice stash!

Show and Share is up next!

Again, what a fabulous meeting. If you have any questions about any of the photos, please ask. So much talent and inspiration and we love to share.
Our next meeting, Dec. 8, will be our Christmas Potluck Party, to be held at Beth's.  Get in touch if you need more info.  Our swap will be a handmade ornament.
