MMQG January Sew-In Day = Fun, fun, fun

Our wait is least for several MMQG members who participated in the Pouch Swap with the Victoria Modern Quilt Guild.  Adrienne arrived at our January Sew-In Day with a huge bag of bags, each containing a handmade pouch complete with lots of quilty goodies inside.  What lovely surprises!  A few members ,who weren't present today, will receive their pouch next time we see them.

Here's some of the pouches and goodies that were given out today.....

Thanks so much to VMQG for participating in this wonderful swap with us.

In addition to the pouch swap there was lots of sewing going on today as's a few examples

Aimee was able to get a quilt layered, basted and a good start on the quilting done today.  This is the back .

Adrienne quilted away like crazy

Val worked on an improvisational quilt ...see the fish?

Ann worked on how she was going to set these pretty blocks into a quilt top

Beth quilted her quilted top with an awesome wavy stitch in no time!

MMQG January Sew-In Day

Tomorrow, Jan 31, is our Sew-In Day.  WooHoo! Right now, even though the weather forecast sounds like it could be a bad driving day, our Sew-In is still on.  We will keep you informed.  Please check before setting out in the morning.

Bring your machine, an extension cord, a project or two, your nametag, your lunch and stay all day or just for a bit.  For those who participated, we will be receiving the pouches from our swap with the Victoria Modern Quilt Guild and everyone is so anxious to see what has arrived.  Such fun!

Did you know that non-members may attend our monthly Sew-Ins?  The first Sew-In is free and after the first Sew-In, guests pay a $5 guest fee.  Bring a quilty friend along for the day.  This is a good way to help decide if you want to join a guild.  We would love it if you would, hint hint!

See you at 1 Prince St., Dartmouth (Party Room) from 10 am til 5 pm.  Get in touch for more info.

January Meeting - Recap

Our Annual General Meeting was held last night, Jan. 8.  Chris @Patch Halifax graciously hosted our get-together in her thoroughly modern shop.  24 excited quilters attended.  We are very pleased to have three new members join our guild bringing our membership to just over 40 quilters.  Our President, Adrienne, presented us with a very informative, interesting Power Point detailing of the last year and projections  for the coming year . Also, she broke down the results of our on-line survey of likes and dislikes and suggestions for improvement.  Again, very interesting stuff.  Aimee, our Treasurer, reported on the budget for the coming year.
After our business meeting, Amanda, our Swap Coordinator, passed out yummy little packages of 5" dots and stripes charm squares to those who participated in our Swap.  And then it was on to the Show and Share.

Tracy's BasketBall quilt top is just amazing!

Linda showed us her completed Christmas quilt.  She assured us that it was quite warm and cosy for taking naps!

Here's the pieced back (upside down)

Linda shared fabric postcards that she received while participating in Sheila's Swaps.  For more info, contact Linda.  There may be a workshop in the future!

Jenn has finished up her Hexie!  Awesome quilting!

This is Jenn's tribute to the Sochi Olympics
Dena's beautiful snowflake pillow

Dena took a while to make this one, but well worth the wait!

Ann's ScrapBuster!

More from Ann.

Anja's Awesome Star!

Jeanette's wonderful quilt top,  Awesome colour combo!

Julie has some baby clothes making to do!

Ron's beautiful diamonds

Julie made a Monster to get rid of Monsters!

Adrienne showed us her wonderful Charm Pack Cherry quilt.
We had a great time listening and planning and sharing and oohing and aahing.  We have lots going on in the future and we are all excited to start our Second Year.  2014 was an amazing year for our guild,  and now we look forward to even better in 2015.    Our next Sew-In is scheduled for Jan, 31 and we hope that you can make it.  Bring your machine, a project or two, your lunch and your nametag.  Get in touch for more details if needed.
