MMQG August Sew-In - Recap.

Saturday, August 27, was the last MMQG Sew-In of the Summer of 2016.  It's been a fabulous summer, the best in many years.  The sunshine and heat did not keep a dozen or so dedicated MMQGers from attending.  There are quilts to be made!

Here's some shots from around our sewing space.

These three members sewed under the ceiling fan!  It was a super hot day.

A charity quilt totally made by Betsy.

Aimee's latest creation!   Amazing Applique!

Linda finished up the quilting on her version of the BOM

And a fun backing

Adrienne worked hard and finished up this paperpieced project for her lucky on-line swap partner

Dominique sewed up these lovely blocks into a top destined to become a charity quilt

Susan got a great start on her new tote bag

It was Candy Coated Collection day!

Julie made short work of the quilting on this charity quilt,  Another creation by Betsy.

A great time was had by all and we hope you will be able to join us next month.  Our September Sew-In will be held on Sunday the 25th  and will begin at 9 am instead of our usual 10 am start. This Sew-In is dedicated to quilting and binding several charity quilts.   Get in touch if you need more

MMQG Monthly Meeting Recap

Our August meeting was attended by 24 amazing members and 3 wonderful guests.  We received a big surprise as two of our guests, Stacey Wilson ,Treasurer of Victoria Modern Quilt Guild and her BFF were vacationing from Victoria, B.C. and decided they just had to spend time with us.  How awesome is that! Stacey filled us in on all the goings-on at VMQG too.   Check out the Victoria Modern Quilt Guild's blog, for lots of amazing quilty eye candy etc.
Here's Stacey and our President, Adrienne
Stacey was so generous to bring along gifts for giveaway to our members.  One of the surprise bags held lots of the
favourite treats you would find and enjoy where they live.  Thanks so much! What fun!

Oh yeah, there was a business meeting in between the gifting and the pincushion swap!
Pincushions waiting to swapped!

Cathy picks first!

Here's a look at some of the pincushions made by our talented members....

Then it was time for Lori to give her presentation for the evening's program. She spoke to us about her experiences with Spoonflower,  an on-line, digital printing company that prints custom fabrics, wallpaper and gift wrap. Lori helped us get acquainted with what this site has to offer.  She showed us a few of the things that she has designed and then had printed as well as talking about the colour chart and how to go about getting your own design printed on fabric.  Thanks, Lori, lots and lots of great info.

Here's one of Lori's original designs that she had printed on white fabric.

Linda won the grand prize, a Spoonflower Handbook and a lovely gift certificate.

Then on to Show and Share time...

It was a fabulous meeting filled with good friends and lots of inspiration. See you next month!  Our September meeting will be held September 8.  Get in touch if you need more details.
