July Meeting Highlights

Our July meeting was well attended on a lovely warm evening  and  started off with a prize drawing for the nametag challenge.  Everyone who made and wore a nametag was entered and Sandra was the winner of a lovely fat quarter.

Since there were a few new faces, everyone introduced themselves and told a bit about themselves.  We had a surprise guest too!  M-R Charbonneau from Ottawa, who blogs at Quilt Matters, dropped by to say hello.  M-R is an amazing modern Canadian quilter and if you don't already know her, check out her blog and you will fall in love with her talent, plus she has Maritime roots!

Our guest speaker was Chris, the owner of Patch-Halifax, a new modern quilt shop opening in our city in August.  Chris told us about her plans for her new shop on Robie Street and about all the amazing modern fabric lines that she will carry.

Members who are making 6 1/2" blocks that will be used to surround our banner center, received their packs of Kona solids that are required.  Also, a signature block from each member participating  will be included in the  backing design of the banner.  Karen did such an amazing job on making the centre and once the blocks are added to the design we will have the most wonderful banner to display, starting with at the Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival in October.

Then, Show and Tell.  Everyone's favourite part!  Unfortunately, there was a snafu with Adrienne's camera and  most photos were messed up.  Just a few came out well enough to show but be assured we saw some wonderful projects.    Sorry!
