Going Out to Sew In!

This month we ventured outside of our usual Sew In Space to sew at our LQS Atlantic Fabrics in Dartmouth. We are so thankful to Atlantic Fabrics for hosting our Sew In and also giving members a special discount on shopping!

There was a lot of stitching (and shopping) going on. Here are the deets...

The Scene

Val was at her very first Sew In and brought along some disappearing 4-patches to work on

Jeanette was working on some super s granny squares. A quilt just for her!

There was a whole lot of color consults going on for Amanda's new project

The June Candy Coated Quilts Collections were delivered! Look at those colors

Crystal made a #87pillow - great colors!

Crystal also finished binding her wee lads first quilt. Check out that rounded corner and the back which we love just as much as the front!

MMQG Sew-In Day is coming up!

Saturday, May 28 is MMQG Sew-in Day! Join us from 10 am until 5 pm at Atlantic Fabrics, 114 Woodlawn Rd, in Dartmouth. Stay all day or just for a bit. Bring your machine, extension cord, your projects, your lunch, your nametag and your membership card. A great chance to work on charity blocks or get that languishing project finished up or maybe start a few new ones! Non-members welcome. Get in touch if you need more details,

East Coast/West Coast Mini Quilt Swap

Here's a look at the wonderful mini quilts that were swapped between our guild and the very talented members of the Fraser Valley Modern Quilt Guild.  What awesome little treasures!  Enjoy!

MMQG May meeting RECAP

This past Thursday, May 12, was our monthly meeting.  It was attended by 29 happy, excited quilters.  Our President, Adrienne was absent, so the meeting was called to order by Crystal, our swap coordinator.  After a welcome and hello to new faces, we started with our monthly swap of fussy cut blocks.  Those participating brought 10 fussy cut squares to exchange and our program for the evening was lead by Jeanette who shared how she made a few projects using fussy cut blocks. 

Next, Linda gave us all an account of the trunk show that she and Adrienne presented on behalf of our guild at the New Brunswick Gathering of the Guilds held in Moncton on April 23.   49 quilts and 5 pillows made by our members were shown at the very well attended trunk show.  A great big thank you goes out to all involved in helping make this happen.  

The excitement was building as it was then time for our blind swap with the Fraser Valley Modern Quilt Guild.  The photos of these wonderful little quilts will be appearing in a separate post along with the minis that our guild members made and sent to FVMQG.  Stay tuned for that!
