Modern Quilting hits Amherst!

Amherst is Awesome!  Our very first quilt show was a smashing success!  About 150 people stopped by to view our display on the first day. The Friday of Festival Week is all about quilts so there are lots of quilters in town,   The second day, the Saturday,  was a bit slower but  loads of excitement nonetheless.  There was so much excitement and enthusiasm over our quilts that it was a bit overwhelming.  There were tons of questions to be answered and even mini-tutorials on a few of the quilts and free-motion quilting.  We met quilters from all over the Maritimes and Newfoundland, from Maine and Seattle in the U.S., from Toronto and even from Kuwait.

Our guild banner was a huge hit!  So many compliments.  It was suggested that it be entered in a quilt show!
We are very proud of ourselves...our guild is almost one year old and we have already had a quilt show of our members' talents.  We have been asked to come back again next year and also to do a class or two.

A great big thank you to the Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival for all the help and encouragement. It was our pleasure to be a part of  your  awesome festival.  See you again next year!

Thanks to Karen Neary for all her help and encouragement too.

Here are a few photos from our experience

Linda with Betty from Pieced Together Designs, Seattle, Wash.

This is the shopping bag you received with a purchase from Mrs. P's Emporium.  A few of these were filled with quilty goodies!
All in all, it was a fantastic experience for those involved and great exposure for our little guild.  We had lots of interested quilters and hopefully we will be connecting with some of them in the future.

The Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival is always the day after Thanksgiving and runs to the Saturday.
