MMQG rockin' the QCR

On a beautiful sunny day in Dartmouth (despite our president's forecast of clouds), 8 excited, happy members joined Heather, our instructor, in a workshop using the Quick Curve Ruler (QCR) by #sewkindofwonderful

Heather shared her awesome quilts made using the QCR.

the back...

After demoing the ruler, using the four patch block pattern and the curved HSTs, everyone went to work and started cutting and sewing their blocks!  A couple of things to remember:  Speed is not your friend to make the curved blocks. Check your pattern instructions twice before cutting!

Each member brought their favourite pattern:  Susan and Beth worked on the Deco Tumbler; Val and Adrienne worked on the Metro Twist; Cathy on the Midnight Mosaic Runner; Karen working on Cupcakes and making a variation of this pattern; Amanda on the Urban Tiles; and Mindy on the Urban Abacus.

It was a joy to see the variety and fabric choices used. These students are going to have some fabulous quilts in the near future. Can't wait to see them!  Kudos to everyone on successfully mastering curves. Here's a look at a few of the colour combos and different configurations.

Amanda's block is just fabulous!

A fun time was had by all!

Thanks so much to our instructor, guild member Heather, for making the trip to Dartmouth from PEI to share her skills with us.  Heather will be sharing her same amazing skills with members of MMQG PEI branch during November Sew In / Curves Workshop
