MMQG February Meeting

Our February Meeting was attended by 29 members on a snowy, icy evening.  After a brief meet and greet, Our President, Adrienne, commenced with the business portion of the meeting.  She shared some details on the very first MMQG quilting retreat that will happen April 15th-17th.  Further information has been emailed to members.  Hope to see you at retreat!

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of our 11 member-made twin sized quilts to The Lodge that Gives, an accomodation for patients receiving treatments at the QE11 in Halifax.  Kendra Morton, interim CEO NS Division of the Canadian Cancer Society was present to receive our donation.  She invited everyone to come and visit the facility any time.

Our program for the evening was a discussion on the subject of threads and needles, given by member, Linda.

Next, members who are working on our guild Block of the Month brought along their blocks to show and joined in a giveaway for the scraps from the charity quilts.  Sandra won the prize.  Bet we will see something very awesome made from those scraps.  PS..Sandra also won the prize for wearing a nametag!  Lucky quilter!

Then, on to our favourite part of the evening....

                                  -  SHOW AND SHARE -

Mindy told us that she used a retro dress belonging to her Mother, to make the centre squares of her block.

Look at those lovely TP scissors!

And then...the big reveal....Val's "Kona Nerds Unite" quilt
Needless to say, gasping filled the room.  It is truly spectacular, especially if you are a Kona lover.

If you have any questions about any of our members work shown in this post, please don't hesitate to get in touch.  We love to share!
Maybe next time you will join us.  Our next meeting is March 10th and our program will be on machine binding with Anja.

Our next Sew-In is February 26th and will be held at 1 Prince St., Dartmouth.  Non-members very welcome!  Get in touch if you need extra info.
