Quilting As We Go

Quilting As You Go was the theme of this month's guild meeting. I mean we talked business too, but what I love the best is hearing the secrets of other people's sewing rooms. Things like top stitch needles, wonder clips, addiction to Kona Color Cards and twin needles!

Adrienne brought in some samples and gave a demonstration of Quilt As You Go. There are several methods of how you can quilt your blocks, how to join them together, and to the backing.

A Sample QAYG Bloomin' Pillow

After a quick demonstration, some of the members gave it a go! and we all talked about our preferred methods and tips on QAYG.

Here are some on-line tutorials if you would like to learn more about QAYG:

After all of that Quilty fun there was show and tell!

Jennifer shared her Giant Star Burst Quilt and asked for a consult on how to quilt. I think she came away with some good ideas.

A unanimously favorite tool, Wonder Clips. We found out that you can get these at Michael's Craft Stores, Make sure to take your 50% coupons!

Jennifer also brought some cute little Kona Quilts

Jeanette showed off the most adorable bow-tie quilt
Linda brought this amazing bag that she made. Everyone was swooning at that Newsprint fabric. she also showed us one of her first modern quilts. Of course we all had to "name that Kona"

Dominique shared a couple of finishes, a quilt, some luggage tags and this cute computer case which she Quilted As She Went!
Adrienne brought her Summer Wheels Quilt, which was all done in QAYG.

I think we had a fun time learning about QAYG this month. What will we talk about next month? How to attract new members! Now that we are hear, we need to spread the word. Come with your ideas!

But before we get to our next business meeting...we get a Sew-In Day! Our First Sew-In has been scheduled for Saturday February 1st. What will you bring to work on?

  4. Yes, lots of fun. Too bad my craft room is in major upheaval. No sewing for me right now-just cleaning/purging/organizing!
