20 very excited, happy modern quilters showed up to spend the evening talking quilts. Everything quilty! It's all about the quilts....and friendships.
We welcomed a few new faces and one new member and also, for the very first time, since joining our guild at the very start, we were very happy to have our Julia attend her first meeting. Julia lives in Yarmouth, so it is difficult for her to be with us for meetings. She had her Mom and Sister in tow too. So nice to meet them all.
That's Julia on the right with her sister, Jillian |
Then it was on to our program for the evening....English Paper Piecing with guild member Jennifer.
She showed us a few of her hand stitched hexie projects and inspired everyone to try out this technique.
We learned lots and Jennifer had a little kit all prepared for everyone to try stitching little hexagons together. Great Tutorial Jenn! You rock!
After a short business meeting, Amanda, our wonderful Swaps and Challenges Co-ordinator, presided over our Pillow Cover swap with the Edmonton Modern Quilt Guild. Our members who participated in the swap, randomly chose a brown paper bag containing a lovely surprise.
Following is a group shot of guild members with their swap pillow covers as well as a few close ups.
Then, everyone's favourite part of our meetings, SHOW AND SHARE
