MMQG PE July Meeting Recap

MMQG PE July 30, 2015 Meeting

We had 8 members at our July meeting in Charlottetown.  The business portion of the meeting included welcoming new members and handing out the membership cards.  We discussed planned activities, passing around sign up sheets and the MMQG display at the NS Fibre Arts Festival in Amherst in October. 

Heather brought in a few quilts/tops using the Quick Curve Ruler as samples for the workshop in November. Stay tuned for further details.

The program consisted of a discussion and demonstration of low volume fabrics.  Heather did the first BBF (Book/Blog/Fabric) and chose to share the book “Color and Composition for the Creative Quilter“ by Katie Pasquini Masopust and Brett Barker; the blog “On The Windy Side” along with a quilt made by testing this blogger’s pattern; and brought in a number of fabrics by Cotton + Steel (love the selvedges).

A great big special Thank You to Mad About Patchwork who provided patterns for our draw.  There were 8 winners!  From the PEI Chapter – Dianne S, Roberta G, Lucinda H and Liz D.  Other members who won were – Betsy M, Cathy S, Barb F, and Shauna S.   

Our meeting concluded with the fabulous works of our members. 



 Gail shared some of her grandmother’s quilts with modern elements.

Lucinda had a WIP and a finish.

Colleen had a fabulous quilt with edgy edges!

Dawn’s quilt was bright and cheery with a fabulous minky back.

Cathy brought in two quilts, quilted by Liz.
